Ray-Ban Meta prescription glasses in the UK: what do they really cost?

You can buy Ray-Ban Meta with prescription lenses, but comparing the prices takes a bit more care than it should. Here’s what you’re paying for, where the extras come in and what to ask before ordering.

If you already wear glasses, Ray-Ban Meta are quite a tempting idea. You’re putting a pair on every morning anyway, so having music, calls and a camera built into them sounds like a fairly easy upgrade. Then you start looking at lens options and a price that seemed straightforward becomes rather less so.

Yes, you can get prescription Ray-Ban Meta glasses in the UK. You can order a complete pair or have compatible lenses fitted to glasses you already own. What you can’t sensibly do is compare a £35 lens advert with a £429 frame and assume one seller is hundreds of pounds cheaper for the same thing.

We’ve checked the published prices below, although your full prescription and chosen lenses still need an individual quote. This isn’t a hands-on comparison of prescription providers, and none of the buying links are affiliate links.

What do the advertised prices actually include?

The table separates the different purchases. These aren’t like-for-like offers, and the lens-only prices don’t include a pair of smart glasses.

Checked option Advertised price What that buys
Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics Gen 2, transparent dark olive, 54-19 £429 Frame price, before selecting prescription lenses
The same Blayzer, clear single-vision, Slim 1.50 lenses and Anti-reflective Classic finish £568 Complete-pair configuration total; prescription still to be supplied and approved
Ray-Ban Meta Headliner Gen 2 Low Bridge Fit, black, 51-23, Clear/Sapphire Transitions £459 The listed non-prescription Transitions configuration, not a prescription quote
Lensology clear single-vision Meta lenses From £35 a pair Replacement lenses for compatible frames you already own
Lensology single-vision Transitions Meta lenses From £97 a pair Replacement prescription lenses with the selected light-adaptive option; further choices can add to this
Lensology Digital Freeform clear varifocal Meta lenses From £89 a pair Entry-level replacement varifocal lenses; other designs and options cost more

For someone who already owns compatible frames, the starting lens bill could therefore be £35, £97 or £89 for those three lens choices, before delivery and any upgrades. If you’re starting from scratch, you need to add the cost of the exact glasses you’ll use. Don’t add an independent supplier’s cheapest lenses to the Blayzer frame price without checking that the supplier supports that particular model.

Delivery needs checking too. Lensology’s published UK delivery table starts at £4.35, which would make its £35 clear-lens starting price £39.35 delivered if that delivery option and base lens specification apply to your order. That’s an illustrative lens-only calculation, not a personalised quote or a complete pair of glasses. Lensology’s delivery charges.

A complete prescription pair came to £568 in our check

On 10 September 2026, Ray-Ban’s configurator let us select the £429 Blayzer above with £139 clear single-vision lenses, giving a £568 total on its review screen. That included the basic Slim 1.50 option and Anti-reflective Classic finish. We used “send prescription later” and didn’t place an order, so this checks the configuration price, not anyone’s suitability. A different lens specification can cost more. Check that Blayzer configuration.

If these will be your everyday prescription glasses, we’d begin with a fitting and a complete-pair quote. You can try the frame, discuss the lenses and find out who’ll help if something isn’t right, without having to work out whether the frame seller or lens supplier should deal with it.

Ray-Ban sells complete prescription pairs directly, while Vision Express offers a UK route to trying the glasses and choosing lenses. Take your prescription and ask for the full cost of the configuration you actually want, including any lens thinning, coatings and fitting charges. A quote for basic clear lenses won’t tell you much about what varifocal Transitions will cost.

The newer Blayzer Optics and Scriber Optics are worth trying alongside the familiar Wayfarer. They’re designed around prescription wear, with more adjustment at the nose and temple tips, although that doesn’t tell us which frame will fit you best. Ray-Ban’s Optics details.

Can you put prescription lenses in a pair you already own?

Yes, but confirm the model and size before ordering. “Wayfarer” on its own isn’t enough information for a replacement-lens supplier, and even two pairs with the same model code can have different lens sizes. Lensology specifically flags that issue with the 50mm and 53mm Gen 2 Wayfarer. Its frame-selection guidance.

There’s also the manufacturer warranty to consider. Ray-Ban says it remains intact when replacement prescription lenses are fitted by a certified retailer. An independent supplier saying it can make lenses for the frame isn’t, by itself, confirmation that the supplier meets that condition. Ask before you commit, rather than discovering the distinction when the electronics need attention. Ray-Ban’s prescription and warranty guidance.

Reglazing may still suit someone who likes their existing pair and has a clear quote for the work. We just wouldn’t treat every lens-fitting route as equivalent, or recommend popping lenses in and out yourself without first checking the support implications.

Varifocals and Transitions need their own quote

You can find UK suppliers offering varifocal lenses for Ray-Ban Meta, but “varifocal” covers several designs rather than one standard product. Lensology, for example, lists Digital Freeform from £89 and Pro-Series from £134 before optional extras. Ask the optician which design is appropriate for your prescription and frame, and how fitting measurements will be taken if you’re ordering remotely. Published varifocal choices.

Transitions are a separate choice again: light-adaptive lenses can be prescription or non-prescription, so the word on the product page doesn’t tell you whether vision correction is included. If you’re comparing two quotes, make sure both specify the same lens type and Transitions option.

I chose non-prescription Transitions for my own Gen 2 because I wanted to keep them on indoors as well as outside. They’ve suited that use, although I still prefer a dedicated pair of sunglasses in the car. That’s my experience with my lenses, not a verdict on every prescription Transitions option. If driving is a priority, tell the optician and ask how the proposed lens behaves behind a windscreen. You can read more about my pair in our Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 review.

Ask these questions before paying

Get the answers against the actual frame and lenses on your quote:

  • Is this the complete-pair price, or just the frames or lenses?
  • Has my full prescription been accepted for this model and size?
  • Are the lens design, thinning, coatings and tint all included?
  • Who takes the fitting measurements, fits the lenses and deals with adjustments?
  • Does this fitting route preserve the Ray-Ban manufacturer warranty?
  • What happens if I can’t get on with the lenses, and which return or remake terms apply?

Don’t assume a general free-returns banner answers the last question. Ask specifically about customised prescription lenses and any difference between changing your mind and reporting a problem.

A couple of other questions

Will Ray-Ban Meta take my prescription?

Ray-Ban lists a Gen 2 eligible range of -6.00 to +6.00 total power. That isn’t a guarantee that every prescription within those numbers works with every frame. Provider limits can differ: Vision Express currently lists -6.00 to +4.00 total power on its Ray-Ban Meta page. Have the complete prescription checked for your chosen frame and lenses by the optical provider. Ray-Ban FAQ.

Do prescription lenses add a display or change the AI features?

No. Prescription lenses correct your vision; they don’t turn ordinary Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 into the separate Meta Ray-Ban Display product. Check our UK AI glasses feature tracker if you’re also deciding which smart features you want.
